(Blog Update: Mersey Class Lifeboat 1/12th Scale) Hull strengthening/deck rail by gregoryk9before going too far with the outside of the hull, and to stop it flexing too much, its time to add the deck support beam around the outer edge. For this I used some 10mm square ply strip, bought from local diy store. To "ease" it around the curves I 3/4 cut the ply strip in a series of saw cuts to help the wood bend to shape. This was bonded to the glass hull with stabilit express and as many clamps as you can muster or can find room for. Once this had dried for 24hrs, I removed the clips/clamps and then mixed up some cascamite and filled in all the saw cuts to fully re strengthen the wooden Posted: 13 hours ago

(Video Gallery) Mersey 12-26 Moira Barrie by gregoryk9Part built Models by design hull. But enough together for some sea trials. Fitted with twin 900 motors, twin 14.8 lipo batteries and a full action electronics power package AND sound system. it sounds as well as it goes !Posted: 13 hours ago

(Blog Update: Mersey Class Lifeboat 1/12th Scale) Hull prep. by gregoryk9Firstly, NEVER rely on the manufacturer to supply you with a perfect hull finish. ALWAYS give the hull a light sanding, remove the sanding dust and apply a coat of grey primer. THEN inspect the hull for blemishes. I have found that trying to inspect and refinish a hull "in white" is a difficult task and rarely 100% reliable. Whereas if you paint it a darker colour first, even just a single coat, this will be just enough to highlight and rework areas you need to look at first. Its too late once the paint has gone on, so far better to sort all the kinks out now, whilst its only time you are addiPosted: 2 days ago

(Blog Update: Mersey Class Lifeboat 1/12th Scale) louvre panels. by gregoryk9I think they were well worth the effort too. Have to admit they took me about 4 hours to make, did loose several louvre slats to the carpet, but the hoover found them next morning! Heard them rattle up the pipe [ha ha].Posted: 3 days ago

(Blog Update: aeromarine apache 50) 'scale drivers' by hydromanthe cheapest and best drivers are the one's you can make up yourself,i made these out of a couple of my sons 'spare' action men cut in half just above the waist, and fixed to the hatch with small angle brackets and nyloc nuts and bolts. the 'head' was the cap of a bubble bath bottle in the shape of a well known 'tame racing driver' from top gear called 'the stig'!!!!Posted: 3 days ago

(Photo Gallery: Racing Boats) hydrolift(26cc hydroplane) by hydromanthis hydroplane had to have major work done to strengthen both sponsons internaly as well as filling with expanding foam, this stops it from sinking in the event of a flip over and to put a little weight in the front to help keep the nose down. fitted a tuned wrap to center pipe, water pump and also added extra fiberglass on the bottom because this was so thin it was flexing at speed and was hitting the bottom of the engine!!!!!. re-painted it too and put my own choice of graphics on. I fitted the pulse water pump because i wouldn't be running flat out all the time and needed to cool the engine Posted: 3 days ago
